Nitmiluk tickets and fees: pass vs camping vs walking vs tours
Why there is no single Nitmiluk entry ticket — NT Parks Visitor Pass, camping categories, Jatbula walking fees, and commercial cruises are four different bookings.

Best for: First-time bookers confused by “entry fee” search results
Unofficial guide — always verify track conditions, closures, fees and safety with NT Parks. Place photos are Wikimedia Commons / CC where credited — not official NT Parks imagery and not live conditions.
Some stay, tour and gear links may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Park fees, camping bookings, walking permits and ferry tickets are never affiliated.

Search results talk about “Nitmiluk tickets” and “entry fee” as if there were one gate. There is not. There is a pass for most visitors to NT-managed parks, plus separate bookings for camping, overnight walking, and commercial boats.
Figures below were published on nt.gov.au at last review (13 September 2026). They can change. Confirm on the official fee pages before you pay.
If you only do one thing before you leave town: buy the Visitor Pass if you need one, and stop calling everything else a ticket.
System 1 — NT Parks Visitor Pass
Required for interstate and overseas visitors to most NT-managed parks including Nitmiluk. NT residents do not need it but may be asked for proof such as an NT driver licence. Online purchase only, in advance. It does not cover camping, walking fees, commercial tours, or Kakadu/Uluru.
Published 1-day rates at last review (13 September 2026): adult $10, child $5, family $25, concession $8, with longer products scaling up (annual adult $60). [VERIFY] live on nt.gov.au / parkbookings before you pay.
Buy it in Katherine on Wi-Fi, not at Maud Creek with no signal. It is not a cruise ticket.
System 2 — Camping
Park-managed sites (Leliyn, Sweetwater, Southern bush, Jatbula camps, canoe camps) book on parkbookings.nt.gov.au only. Published Category A ~$15 adult / $8 child / $38 family; Category B ~$10 / $5 / $25. [VERIFY] the live listing.
Gorge Tourist Precinct is commercial (Category C-style) via Nitmiluk Tours. Display the tag. No on-site payment for park-managed sites.
A Katherine hotel does not include a camp site. Walk-up hope is not a plan in June–August.
System 3 — Multi-day walking fees
Jatbula and Southern overnight products can attract a walking fee: published $25 per person per night, capped at $125 for 6+ days. In addition to camping. No family rate on the walking fee table. Confirm the live cart.
Children under five are free of the walking fee on the official table — still confirm. The Visitor Pass does not cover this.
The Nitmiluk Tours ferry is another checkout again. Four systems. Do not merge them as “one park ticket.”
System 4 — Commercial tickets

Cruises, canoe hire, some stays and the Jatbula start ferry are Nitmiluk Tours (or other commercial) products. Optional GetYourGuide day tours from Darwin are another checkout again. None of those replace the Visitor Pass.
A cruise ticket is not a swim permit. A helicopter is not a Jatbula booking. Read the product you paid for.
Checkout order that actually works
Visitor Pass if required → cruise or camp if that is your product → walking fee + Jatbula camps + ferry if you are walking → Katherine bed if you are not camping.
Screenshot every confirmation. Paper backup in a zip bag. Rangers cannot print your life at Crystal Falls.
What this site will never sell you
Official park fees, camping, walking permits and the Jatbula ferry. Those stay on government and operator checkouts. Optional stays in Katherine / Darwin and GetYourGuide day tours may be affiliate — after you have the official bookings straight.
Failure modes
“I bought a tour so I don’t need a pass” → you still need the pass if you are interstate/overseas. Fix: parkbookings first.
Kakadu pass at Nitmiluk → wrong country of parks. Fix: NT Parks Visitor Pass is not Parks Australia.
Pay-on-arrival camping → there is no on-site payment for park-managed sites. Fix: book before you leave town.
FAQ
Tap a question to expand the answer.
How much is the NT Parks Visitor Pass?
Published 1-day rates at last review: adult $10, child $5, family $25, concession $8, with 3-day, 2-week, monthly and annual products scaling up (annual adult $60). Buy only at parkbookings.nt.gov.au. Always verify live.
Does the pass work at Kakadu or Uluru?
No. Kakadu and Uluru-Kata Tjuta are Parks Australia parks with a separate pass system. The NT Parks Visitor Pass does not cover them.
Can I pay for camping at the park?
Not for park-managed sites. Book on parkbookings.nt.gov.au before arrival. Display the tag. Gorge Tourist Precinct camping is commercial via Nitmiluk Tours — a different checkout.
Is the Jatbula ferry part of the walking fee?
No. The ferry is a Nitmiluk Tours product. Walking fees and camps are parkbookings. Briefing is mandatory. This site never affiliates the ferry.
