About this guide

nitmiluknationalpark.com.au is an independent, unofficial visitor guide. We help people plan walks, fees, itineraries, stays and tours around Nitmiluk National Park (Katherine Gorge and Leliyn), Northern Territory — with a practical focus on two sectors, split fee systems, Jatbula logistics, heat, crocodiles and comms.

We are not Parks and Wildlife Commission of the Northern Territory, the Northern Territory Government, the Jawoyn Association, Nitmiluk Tours, Parks Australia, or any other government agency or commercial operator unless explicitly stated.

We acknowledge the Jawoyn people as Traditional Owners of Nitmiluk country and their continuing connection to land, waters and culture. “Nitmiluk” refers to the place of the cicada dreaming. This site does not speak for Traditional Owner groups or for NT Parks, and it does not invent cultural detail.

Who publishes this site

Ian Piggott · Publisher & guide editor · ianpiggott.com

Help people plan Nitmiluk Gorge, Leliyn and Jatbula days honestly — two sectors, split fee systems, heat, crocodiles and comms — while funding free guides through clearly disclosed ads and affiliates. Park fees, camping bookings, walking permits and ferry tickets are never affiliated.

How we work (accuracy policy)

We pull publicly available park facts from NT Parks, parkbookings.nt.gov.au, Nitmiluk Tours public pages and road reports, then write practical planning notes. We do not invent live track status, guaranteed swimming or ferry claims, or treat official fee tables as never-changing. Dollar figures are labelled as published rates at last review and must be checked again.

Independence

  • Independent unofficial guide. Not a government park site.
  • Park fees, camping bookings, walking permits and ferry tickets are never affiliated.
  • Photos are Wikimedia Commons / CC works of Nitmiluk country, credited under images and in the Disclaimer photo table.

National Parks Guide Australia network

This is one deep park guide (Nitmiluk) in the National Parks Guide Australia network of independent visitor guides. The visitor-facing hub is nationalparksguide.com.au — browse the directory and how the network works. The publisher remains Farming Domains. Network language lives here and in the footer — not in the site byline.

Nitmiluk sits on hub collections for trips that are not a Darwin same-day return, for Jatbula-scale hiking, and for Leliyn (Edith Falls) waterfalls — unlike a Red Centre icon or a two-hour capital lookout.

Advertising & affiliates

The site may display advertising and affiliate links (stays, tours, gear) to fund free content. Disclosures appear on relevant pages and in the affiliate disclosure. Park fees, camping, walking permits and the Jatbula ferry are never affiliated.
